If you’re looking for something special for dinner tonight, drop by your local Whole Foods Market. As of Wednesday, October 14, Keta Salmon from Lummi Island Wild Co-op will be available in all Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia Whole Foods stores.
These fish are caught off the coast of Lummi Island, Wash., by the co-op, which has dedicated itself to catching, sourcing, and processing its seafood in a responsible and sustainable way.
Here’s a quick video of some of the co-op members fishing on Legoe Bay (just off Lummi Island):
You can learn more on their website.
The fish aren’t the only thing that will be in-store. Co-op partner Riley Starks will appear at the South Lake Union Whole Foods store from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on October 14 and 16. He’ll be there to sample Keta, talk about the fishery, and, on Friday, serve a delicious Keta Poke recipe.
I highly encourage you to make plans to come down to the store on Friday to try Riley’s recipe. But I’m also not one to make you wait, so I’ve included it below, if you want to try it at home
Hope to see you this week!
