We’ve added yet another name to our roster of Local Producer Loan recipients, and to our growing list of producers in British Columbia: GBE Chilliwack Heirloom Organic Farm!
GBE Chilliwack specializes in growing organic heirloom produce like tomatoes, beans, eggplants, and peppers.
The farm was founded by Michael Allen, a retired Canadian Football League star. He began farming with his family, including his wife Ana-Liza, and children Santiana, Marquis, Mataniel, and Sionesse, in 2001. They welcomed two more children to their family, Soleah and Salomae, and began farming full-time in 2007.
GBE Chilliwack operates the second-largest organic greenhouse in Western Canada, and is the largest supplier of heirloom organic produce in British Columbia. They have more than 22 acres of greenhouse and field-grown heirloom produce, which allows them to supply:
- 21 varieties of heirloom tomatoes;
- 4 varieties of peppers;
- 5 varieties of beans, watermelons, and basil;
- 3 varieties of eggplants and Jamaican callaloo, and;
- The ONLY organic “Chilliwack” sweet corn in B.C.
Their products can be found at any of our Whole Foods Market stores in B.C., and I highly encourage you to check them out.
Welcome to the family, GBE Chilliwack!
